ABOUT ADOLPHUS T. CROW

Adolphus T. Crow was hatched in a West Texas cornfield along with two brothers and one sister.  From the time he could peek over the nest, to view the world beyond, Adolphus always yearned for the adventure of seeing what was over the horizon's edge.  As soon as his wings would carry him Adolphus took off in search of excitement...and he found it!
Adolphus found himself in Tennessee when the Civil War broke out.  Being a good Southern crow, Adolphus volunteered his services as a winged carrier of important communications.  His dedication, and daring, earned him the honorary title of "Colonel" commissioned to him personally by General Robert E. Lee.  At war's end Adolphus decided to head back to his beloved Texas.  As he flew over the hills, and flowers, of the Texas Hill Country Adolphus immediately decided this was where he wanted to settle down.  He married Molly K. Crow, had a couple of little crows and began to look around for something to do.  The town of Llano, situated on the banks of the Llano river (one of Texas' most pristine rivers) brought back memories of the Old West and the Texas frontier.  Adolphus always had a good eye for quality goods so he opened Colonel Crow's Trading Post right in the heart of downtown Llano.  Today Colonel Crow's Trading Post still carries on the tradition Adolphus started so long ago.  Visitors can listen to an authentic 1800's nickelodeon as they browse through the selection of antiques, Texas gifts, Texas food products, and more.  Shoppers can also purchase the Colonel's own "Ugly but Good Soap" , Old Fashioned Votive candles, or the Colonel's legendary "Stink E Stiks"  all still made by hand using the finest quality ingredients and Adolphus' personal recipes.
Even though Adolphus is very very very old lucky shoppers can every once in a while still see the Old Crow hopping around the store in his finest attire and signature derby.  The Trading Post is always a buzz when word goes out that "The Colonel is in the building!"  No trip to Llano Texas is complete without a visit to Colonel Crow's Trading Post.
